Kindergarten Room 3 years to 5 years

The Kinder Room provides a full Kindergarten Program for children aged 3-5 years.

We have 20 children attending each day, with a university trained Kindergarten teacher, who has been teaching 3-5 year olds for the past nine years, both here and in Sydney. There is also a qualified assistant in the room to provide a stable and loving learning environment.

The Kinder Program* follows the children’s interests and focuses on all areas of development, in particular, fine motor, cognitive and social development. We encourage the children to be involved in their room and take an active role in their learning.

All children have a developmental portfolio. This portfolio includes learning stories and observations of each child’s development, as well as photographs and examples of the children’s work. Parents and children are encouraged to be involved in all aspects of the program, to read through their portfolio often and also to add comments about their own experiences of their child’s development.

*For more information on the Kinder Program please contact the centre on Phone 9209 6495.

The Kinder Room Philosophy

We believe that Kinder children need a fun, safe, loving, happy, relaxed and stimulating environment to learn. We strongly believe in providing a play based curriculum, which offers children choices and gives them a chance to explore and discover through play.

The philosophy that we work from is:

  • Every child is unique, and should be treated with the same respect with which adults wish to be treated. Every child in the Kinder Room is made to feel welcome, wanted and needed.
  • We value children’s ideas, thoughts, feelings, interests and strengths and feel that they should be given choices. Children are given a voice and the power to make decisions regarding their play.
  • We believe that children learn best in a rich, natural and beautiful environment, and that children are a part of creating that environment. All artwork is displayed with pride.
  • We provide an environment that encourages the use of natural and recycled materials. We aim to instil the belief in children that our world is special and needs us to take good care of it, through saving water, recycling and looking after our toys and equipment.
  • We value music, movement and language as an essential part of our program and dedicate a group time every day to this.
  • We follow children’s interests and explore such areas in detail, as children have the desire to learn as much as you can teach. Therefore, we provide an environment that enables children to gain information and knowledge.
  • Providing a strong foundation that will help children move successfully through school and into adulthood. We focus on the skills that are needed to move into school, such as good fine motor skills, social skills and building their attention span.
  • We value social and emotional development as the most important aspect of school readiness, and provide an environment where children can make friends, share, take turns, build self-confidence, self-believe and have fun.

We work on delivering this philosophy each and every day, and our room is a true reflection of these beliefs.
